Today the 5th Team played West Bridgford 8, six places above us in the league. The form book seemed to suggest a tight match, as we only lost the away fixture 4-2. But the team that arrived bore at least as much similarity to their 10th team which beat us 7-0 at home just three weeks ago.
The first half exhibited three clear phases – we dominated the first, conceded two goals in the second and then equalised in the third. Nick scored both goals, generously assisted by Joel Davies. Vociferous and boisterous support from the clubhouse terrace certainly played its part in the comeback, as did the team digging deep and organising itself better.
After the excitement of the first half, supporters were only treated to a single goal in the second half – and that was credited to our opposition. Whilst the 3-2 loss was certainly disappointing, none of us returned to the dressing room without giving our all. A creditable performance, even if ‘pointless’.
