The temperature was remarkably chilly on Saturday, away at Derby. Not only our last match of the season, but also Alex’s last game as Captain – so plenty of motivation for ending the season with a bang.
Derby had the first spell of sustained pressure but weren’t able to convert into a goal. We lost Alex to injury after no more than 10 minutes, so took a while to get ourselves organised at the back of midfield.
Nick scored the first (with Joel ensuring it crossed the line), and was also credited with the second – though the opposition played a significant part. We went into half-time 2-0 up.
Derby reorganised themselves and pulled one back, before Nick added a third. Again they scored and the action was all down in our D for a while. But then Nick scored to make it 4-2, which was the final score.
Many thanks to our vocal away supporters, and to Alex for captaining a great season.
